| January 1, 2025 | Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) determines market and appraised values for Harris County. |

This is the last day to pay 2024 property taxes without incurring delinquent penalty and interest.
This also is the last date to notify our office in writing to request a quarter payment plan and make the first payment without incurring late fees. The quarter payment plan is for accounts with an over-65, disability homestead exemption, qualified disabled veteran or surviving spouse exemption, or property in a declared disaster area. |

Penalty and interest charges begin to accrue on unpaid taxes for the 2024 tax year. The combined penalty and interest rates begin at 7% on February 1st.
Taxpayers can enter into installment agreements on current tax year (2024) delinquent taxes for non-homestead residential property and for any delinquent tax year on residential homestead property. |
| March 1, 2025 |
Final day to notify our office in writing to request a quarter payment plan and make the first payment. However, a late fee will be incurred.
The quarter payment plan is for accounts with an over-65, disability homestead, or qualified disabled veteran or surviving spouse exemption. |
| March 31, 2025 | This is the last day to make the second payment on quarter payment plans for accounts with over-65 and disability homestead, or qualified disabled veteran or surviving spouse exemption, or property in a declared disaster area. Payment after this date will incur a late fee. |
| March 31, 2025 | This is the last day to pay business personal property accounts that received Section 33.11 notices before the accounts are turned over to the delinquent collection attorneys. |
| April 1, 2025 | The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office turns over for collection all delinquent business personal property accounts on this date. For some jurisdictions a collection penalty of 15% - 20% of the total unpaid balance is added to the current delinquent account. |
| April 15, 2024 | This is the deadline to file property tax rendition for business personal property. For more information about rendition and forms, contact HCAD or view the Guide-to-Personal-Property-Renditions. |
| May 1, 2025 | This is also the last day to file a notice of protest with the Harris County Appraisal District for the 2025 tax year (or 30 days after notice of appraisal value is delivered). |
| May 31, 2025 | This is the last day to make the third payment on quarter payment plans for accounts with over-65 and disability homestead, or qualified disabled veteran or surviving spouse exemption, or property in a declared disaster area. Payment after this date will incur a late fee. |
| June 30, 2025 | This is the last day to enter into an installment agreement with the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office to pay the current tax year’s delinquent taxes for non-homestead residential accounts. |
| July 1, 2025 | The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office turns over for collection all delinquent real property accounts on this date. For some jurisdictions a collection penalty of 15% - 20% of the total unpaid balance is added to the current delinquent account. |
| July 31, 2025 | This is the last day to make the final payment on quarter payment plans for accounts with over-65 and disability homestead, or qualified disabled veteran or surviving spouse exemption, or property in a declared disaster area. Payment after this date will incur a late fee. |
| September 2025 | For the 2025 tax year: certification of property values, adoption of tax rates, Truth-in-Taxation, and property tax assessment. |
| October 1, 2025 | Last day to sign up for a 2025 Tax Year e-Bill with the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office. |
| October - November 2025 | The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office begins delivering the 2025 Tax Year billing statements for real and business personal property owners and agents. |
| December 31, 2025 | Last day to make property tax payment for federal income tax deduction purposes. Payments must be sent in time to receive a December postmark or receipt date by a third party carrier or, if made online or via the telephone, the transaction must be completed before midnight, Central Standard time. |
