Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan is getting tough on delinquent property taxpayers. One Step Diagnostic is among Harris County’s outstanding delinquent property tax violators. The owners owe nearly $5,000 to Harris County and the jurisdictions for which it collects.
"We give taxpayers every opportunity to pay, from multiple payment options to payment plans,” said Sullivan. “I shouldn't have to show up at your doorstep, with a tax bill in hand, to collect what you owe. If I have to make a personal visit, you will have the choice to pay in full, or we will seize your property to satisfy the tax obligations."
On Tuesday, Sullivan and the county's delinquent tax attorneys, Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP, are serving notices to businesses in Harris County who are in violation.
"We have exhausted all efforts to obtain payment from these delinquent taxpayers. I've offered support, reminders and relief to those who may need payment plans. Now's when we get tough,” said Sullivan.
The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office Property Tax Division maintains approximately 1.6 million tax accounts and collects property taxes for 71 taxing entities including Harris County. For the 2015 tax year, the Tax Assessor-Collector's office anticipates collecting more than $6 billion in property taxes.
