Harris County Tax Office Holiday Schedule

Tax Office Open for Property Tax Payments Online 24/7

Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Ann Harris Bennett announces that all Harris County Tax Office locations will be closed December 23 and 24 for the Christmas holidays. All offices also will be closed on December 31, New Year’s Eve.

“Harris County residents and property owners are reminded that even though all Tax Office locations will be closed for the holidays, auto registration renewals and property tax payments may be made online 24/7,” said Bennett. “Additionally, property owners may choose to pay their property tax statement by phone using a free e-check.”

Options for renewing your vehicle registration online, or by mail:

• Online: Visit www.hctax.net/ to renew online. Online renewal is available up to nine (9) months past your registration expiration date.
  
  
• Mail: Return the bottom portion of your registration renewal form, payment, copies of insurance and inspection to:

Paying Property Taxes Online or by Phone

Property tax payments may be made by cash, check, money order, or credit card. Credit/debit card, or free e-check payments may be made online at www.hctax.net/, or by phone at 713-274-(CARD) 2273. Checks and money orders may be mailed to P.O. Box 4622, Houston, TX 77210-4622.

*Special note – VISA debit card transaction fees for property taxes paid online and by phone have changed. All Visa debit card transaction charges are now 2.35% of the transaction with a $1.00 minimum.

All Harris County Tax Office locations have drop boxes available for property owners to drop off their property tax payments. Receipts will be mailed to property owners once their property tax payments have been processed.

“I also want to encourage property owners who are struggling to pay their property tax bills to contact the Tax Office to request an installment payment plan. Property owners may request an in-office meeting, a meeting via Zoom, or seek assistance by phone. We are here to help,” added Bennett.

All Tax Office locations will close at 4:30 p.m. on December 30, 2021.
