Press Release
HOUSTON – June 27, 2008 - Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Paul Bettencourt is urging approximately 164,479 taxpayers’ delinquent on their property tax account to pay their bills by Monday, June 30, 2008 to avoid penalties totaling as much as 42% on July 1. “These 164,479 taxpayers need to know that it will cost them a whole lot more, 26.6%, to pay their property tax bill on Tuesday. An average homeowner in the Houston area could save $851 in penalties and interest by paying on Monday” declared Bettencourt.
Property taxpayers now have the choice of using
any combination of credit cards and/or e-checks online. This new payment option is now available on
the Tax Office website at www.hctax.net 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. Also, full
payment can be made by touch tone telephone at 713-368-CARD (2273).
A non-refundable transaction fee of 2.15% is
added to all credit card charges.
