Voter Registration Deadline Aug. 11 for Sept. 10 Elections
Nearly 100,000 Harris County Voters Eligible to Vote in Election

HOUSTON – Aug. 2, 2005 - Harris County Voter Registrar Paul Bettencourt reminds residents of Harris County that Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, is the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Sept. 10 elections.

“August 11 is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming Sept. 10 elections in which as many as six entities, including utility and school districts such as Spring ISD, are conducting elections,” said Bettencourt. “I encourage eligible residents to register to vote immediately so they can join the nearly 100,000 eligible Harris County voters in these September elections. Take the first step in making your voice heard in your neighborhood.”

Voter Registration applications must be delivered to any Tax Office location by 4:45 p.m on Aug. 11 or postmarked by midnight that day.

State law requires that voters be registered 30 days prior to the election in which they wish to vote.

“County residents who have moved since the last election should verify their voter registration status on our website at www.hcvoter.net or call the Tax Office at 713-368-VOTE to ensure that everything is in order prior to next week’s deadline,” added Bettencourt.
