1st Time Harris County Tax Office Open for June Run-off Elections
Four Jurisdictions Scheduled to Conduct Run-off Elections

HOUSTON – June 9, 2005 - Harris County Voter Registrar Paul Bettencourt announces that the Tax Office will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. to field calls from the public for the Run-off Elections on June 11, 2005. This is at the request of the City of Baytown and other jurisdictions to help them get voters to the polls on Saturday.

“This is the first time the Tax Office’s Voter Registration Department is open for a Run-off Election in June. As we move to just two General Election dates, November and May, this will become a statewide practice,” said Bettencourt.

The following races will be decided by the June 11 Run-off Election:

City of Baytown - City Council District I
City of Deer Park - City Council Position 3
City of League City - Mayor, City Council Position 1, City Council Position 2
City of Pasadena – City Council District C

“Tax Office employees will be available by phone at 713-368-VOTE to help registered voters locate polling locations or to double-check their voter registration status,” added Bettencourt. “The Tax Office website is also available 24/7 to verify voter information in time for the Run-off Elections.”

For more information, contact the Harris County Tax Office Voter Registration Department at 713-368-VOTE (8683) or visit the Tax Office website at www.hcvoter.net.
