The Harris County Tax Office is committed to providing technology that invites you to "get online instead of in line." You may verify a voter's
registration status by searching the Tax Office's voter registration database.
| Effective Immediately Birth Dates Not Available Online |
| In accordance with a provision of H.B. No. 345, the Harris County Tax Office
will no longer make available the birth
date of individuals registered to vote on its website effective immediately. This information is still
available at the downtown office or may be purchased on CD by calling the Harris County Tax Office Voter
Registration Department at 713-368-2200.

| H.B. 345 provides that: |
| SECTION 2. Section 13.004, Election Code, is amended by adding Subsection (d)
to read as follows: |
| (d) The voter registrar or other county official who has access to the information
furnished on a registration application may not post the following information on a website: |
- a telephone number;
- a social security number;
- a driver’s license or a number of a personal identification card;
- a date of birth; or
- the residence address of a voter who is a federal judge or state judge, as defined by
Section 13.0021, if the voter included an affidavit with the application under Section 13.0021 or the
registrar has received an affidavit submitted under Section 15.0215.

to search for the name "John Doe," type "Doe" followed by a space (not a comma), then "John". If you enter only a last name that is fairly
common, such as “Smith” or “Johnson,” it could take a long time to retrieve all records with that last name.
