Property Tax Overpayments and Outstanding Refund Checks

The Tax Office has monies due taxpayers from property tax overpayments remaining unclaimed after notice to the owner of the overpayment and from outstanding (uncashed) refund checks.

Use the search tools below to find if you are owed money.  Then, complete the appropriate request form to get your money refunded or your check reissued.

Property Tax Overpayments
Search the Property Tax Overpayment Database to determine if you are due a refund.
Only overpayments received after July 1, 2007 are included in the database.
If you believe you may be due a refund for a payment received before July 1, 2007, please call 713-368-2102.

Outstanding Refund Checks
Search the Outstanding Refund Check Database to determine if a refund check was issued to you which has not been cashed.
This data base only includes uncashed refund checks, issued after June 30, 2006, which have been outstanding for more than 90 days.

Unclaimed Monies
Visit the Texas State Comptroller's Web site to search additional unclaimed property databases at www.window.state.tx.us.
For unclaimed monies under $100, please call the Harris County Treasure's Office at 713-755-7386.
