Choose from four search methods to determine if you have a property tax overpayment:

Search by Taxpayer Name

Please enter a last name and a first name below to search the database for a particular taxpayer. To expedite the search, please enter a complete last name and a complete first name, if known. For example, to search for the name "John Doe" you would type "Doe" followed by a space (not a comma), then "John" to access the record(s) that reflect(s) that name. (Note: For some personal property accounts, it may be necessary to input the first name and then the last name.) If you enter only a last name that is common, such as "Smith" or "Johnson," it may take a long time to return all of the records with that last name. Please keep this in mind if you have a connection speed of 28.8 kbps or less.

Search by Property Address

When doing a search by address, avoid using words such as "Street," "Drive," or " Lane," or any of their associated abbreviations, as well (like "St," "Dr," or "Ln"). Additionally, avoid using periods after abbreviations, such as "100 N. Anystreet" (use "100 N Anystreet" instead). For street names that are numbers (such as 17th Street) try both the number and the spelled-out name of the street. For instance, if "17th Street" does not work, try "Seventeenth Street."

Search by Personal Property, Mobile Home, Pipeline, Rolling Stock, and Mineral Account Numbers

Important! Read this paragraph before you enter an account number. The Harris County Appraisal District has assigned 7-digit account numbers to personal property accounts, mobile home accounts, and mineral accounts. The Harris County Tax Office uses a number prefix to distinguish these accounts from each other, thus making the account number 8 digits in length. For any personal property account, the prefix "2" is placed before the number (20012328). Mobile home accounts have the prefix of "3" (30012328). Pipeline and rolling stock accounts have a prefix of "5" (50012345). For mineral accounts, a prefix of "4" is placed before the number (40012345). You must use one of these prefixes in order to perform a search.
