Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan thanks Harris County Commissioners Court for receiving the submission of the taxable values for Harris County.
“Each year, Harris County approves the submission of the total appraised value, the total assessed value and the total taxable value, per the Texas Property Tax Code,” said Sullivan. “These values are incredibly important, as these are used to set the property tax rates for 2016.”
|Taxing Unit||Appraised/Assessed Value||Taxable Value|
|HC Flood Control District||$540,407,987,670||$410,765,309,062|
|Port of Houston Authority||$540,407,987,670||$410,706,054,865|
|HC Hospital District||$540,407,987,670||$410,765,261,374|
The taxable values include the following: the taxable value of property certified by the Harris County Appraisal district, the estimated taxable values of uncertified property under Appraisal Review Board protest and other property not under protest or included on the certified roll.
“The next steps are to ensure compliance with the Truth-in-Taxation provisions of the Texas Property Tax Code. My office will work with the County Auditor and Budget Management Offices to calculate the effective tax rate, the rollback tax rate, schedule public hearings and publish the required notices,” said Sullivan. “Our goal is to keep everything on track as we prepare for the 2016 Property Tax Bills.”
