Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan reminds citizens that October 11, 2016 is the last day to register to vote for the November 8th General Election.
“Registering to vote is easy and it ensures your voice is heard in the community,” said Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan. “You can register to vote at any local library, post office or Tax Assessor-Collector office branch location. Voter registration applications must be received by my office or postmarked by October 11, 2016 for the applicant to be eligible to vote in the 2016 General Election.”
If a registered voter has moved within Harris County or had their name changed, they can update their voter registration information by visiting www.hctax.net and clicking on the Name/Address Change button under the Voter Registration tab.
“Since I took office, we expanded our voter registration outreach efforts in Harris County,” said Sullivan. “We hosted numerous voter registration drives at local high schools, the monthly US Naturalization Ceremonies and even local businesses whose employees have relocated. In addition, we work with multiple community organizations to host volunteer deputy voter registrar trainings. These volunteers are incredibly important, as they help register voters and submit applications to our office.”
Currently, Harris County has more than 2.1 million registered voters. Residents may check their voter registration status at www.hctax.net or they can call 713-274-8200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if they have questions.
Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Mike Sullivan also serves as the Harris County Voter Registrar, which conducts voter registration activities and maintains a certified list of registered voters. Learn more about voter registration and the requirements by visiting www.hctax.net.
